ABOUT

Jim Alstott

Merging raw honesty with a grounded sense of humor, Jim explores the human side of spiritual awakening through literature, discourse, and the shared music of existence.

Jim Alstott spent most of his adult life as a practical, skeptical professional running an executive search firm, the kind of guy who believed in hard work, good data, and keeping both feet firmly planted on the ground. Then the universe had other plans.

What started as curiosity turned into a full-blown spiritual awakening that took him through past-life regression, energy healing, encounters with mediums, and experiences he still can’t fully explain. Rather than keeping it to himself (or pretending it didn’t happen), he did what any reasonable person would do: he started a podcast about it.

As host of The Drop the Needle Podcast, Jim interviews spiritual practitioners, mediums, energy healers, and consciousness researchers, always with genuine curiosity and a healthy dose of skepti…wait, seriously? He’s a certified Reiki and Chios practitioner, though he’ll be the first to admit he’s still figuring out what that means.

About the Book

Jim Alstott is a spiritual practitioner, certified Reiki and Chios healer, and the creator and host of one of the hottest podcasts in the country, The Drop the Needle Podcast, a show dedicated to exploring the frontiers of consciousness, spirituality, and human transformation through in-depth conversations with mediums, energy healers, past-life regressionists, and researchers in the field.

His work sits at the intersection of sincere spiritual inquiry and grounded scepticism, an approach that has resonated with audiences seeking authentic exploration without dogma or pretence. Through his podcast and writing, Jim brings accessibility and humour to topics often shrouded in mysticism, making space for both believers and questioners.

Before his unexpected pivot into spiritual practices, Jim built a career in executive search, founding Global Personnel Search, Inc. This background informs his pragmatic, evidence-curious approach to even the most esoteric subjects.

Did I Just Have a Spiritual Awakening or Was it Something I Ate? A Magical, Mystical Journey Through the Twelve Stages of Awakening is his debut memoir, chronicling his personal transformation through the framework of Dolores Cannon’s twelve stages of spiritual awakening, with a soundtrack to match.

Sometimes the most profound spiritual experiences happen when you’re too tired to fight them off with logic.
